Maison Lejaby – Lingerie as Haute Couture

Written by
Maison Lejaby

What does modern French chic truly look like? And is there a lingerie brand that can help you embody the Parisian aesthetic? The answer to both questions is the same: Maison Lejaby — a name that has carried legendary status in European lingerie for more than half a century.

The iconic French house creates lingerie firmly in the luxury segment, masterfully weaving together the traditions of the Belle Époque — the era of its founding and earliest triumphs — with the sensibilities of contemporary fashion. The result is a house aesthetic that feels at once timeless and entirely of the moment.

In 2015, a new boutique opened in Lyon — a dedicated celebration of the house’s 75-year legacy.

The World of Maison Lejaby – Everything You Need to Know

Maison Lejaby is the flagship of European lingerie fashion. For more than half a century, the house has set the standard in bra, corset, brief, and swimwear design — a reference point for countless brands that have followed in its wake. Each collection embodies the spirit of lingerie as haute couture.

“For 85 years, the house has stood alongside women in their emancipation, their pursuit of freedom, their passions, and their desires. Maison Lejaby is behind the greatest milestones in the history of women’s lingerie.”

Three Signature Lines

Maison Lejaby Lingerie — Lingerie crafted from the finest traditional and contemporary fabrics, conceived by genuinely creative designers and constructed with the brand’s signature know-how. Each collection is built around a distinct, original concept.

Maison Lejaby Elixir — Refined pieces designed for the fuller-figured woman. If you’ve ever struggled to find a luxury bra in an E cup or beyond — one that truly lifts, supports, and flatters — Lejaby Elixir is your answer. Comfort, confidence, and joy of movement, beautifully restored.

Maison Lejaby Bain — Swimwear that defines beach glamour, the French way: effortlessly chic, never overdone, never kitsch. Instantly recognizable to anyone with an eye for lingerie fashion — one glance and you know exactly who made it.

Every single piece is made in France. The brand’s ateliers are based in Paris and Lyon, where precious Lyon silk plays a central role in the creative process — lending bras, suspender belts, bodysuits, and briefs that unmistakable Parisian polish.

How Maison Lejaby Became a Legend

The story begins at the turn of the 1920s and ’30s. Europe is in the full bloom of the Belle Époque. In a small cinema in Marseille, Marcel and Marguerite Blanchard watch The Blue Angel — and on screen, Marlene Dietrich wears an exquisite suspender belt that stops them in their tracks.

Marguerite’s sister Gaby, captivated by that iconic image, begins sewing bras and fine lingerie under the name “La Gaby bras.” From that phrase, the name Lejaby is born. Together with the Blanchard couple, Gaby establishes what becomes a legendary family business.

In the 1950s, following Gaby’s death, Marcel opens a salon in Paris. The celebrated illustrator and count René Gruau creates advertising posters for the brand. The bold lingerie designs and a vibrant promotional campaign set all of Paris talking.

What truly set Maison Lejaby apart from the crowd was its pioneering use of materials: pairing traditional lace and silk with the newly emerging fabrics of the age — polyamide, acrylic, and polyester. The result was lingerie of exceptional comfort and functionality, without sacrificing an ounce of refinement.

By the mid-twentieth century, the brand’s fame was firmly established — and it has never wavered since. In the new millennium, Maison Lejaby expanded into e-commerce, bringing its coveted Parisian pieces to customers around the world.

Today, the brand’s wide and growing popularity rests on two pillars: global delivery that puts Parisian luxury within reach of anyone, anywhere — and a price point that, particularly during sales, is remarkably accessible for a house of this caliber.
