The history of the French brand Cadolle began in 1889. The founder of the fashion house, Herminie Cadolle, divided the traditional corset horizontally into two parts. She added shoulder straps to the upper section and patented it as the first bra, while the lower part retained the function of shaping and supporting the waist.
Management of the company was later passed on to her daughter-in-law Maria, followed by her granddaughter Marguerite, who worked closely with Coco Chanel. Today, the small boutique with its retro design is run by the founder’s great-great-granddaughter. Poupie Cadolle, in a creative partnership with her daughter Patricia, has revived the art of corset making.
Elastic fabrics in Cadolle lingerie creations are combined with whalebone inserts, while lace décor is enhanced with delicate embroidery. A perfect, body-hugging fit—just as many years ago—is achieved through traditional lacing. Alongside seductive corsets, the collections include bras and briefs, bodysuits, and boudoir dresses. The range is constantly expanded and enjoys strong demand, with bespoke pieces available upon request.
