Simone Perele – A French Legend

Written by
Simone Perele

Simone Perele is more than a beloved French label — it is one of the rare lingerie houses that brought bras and underwear onto the runway and secured their place in the history of high fashion. Yet for all its iconic status, the brand has never lost sight of the woman who simply wants to feel beautiful and comfortable every single day.

The Story Behind Simone Perele

Simone Pérèle and Her Husband Wolf GrodnerThe world of Simone Perele grew from one woman’s vision. In 1948, master corsetière Simone Pérèle opened her own atelier in Paris. Her ambition went far beyond beautiful craftsmanship — she wanted lingerie to be a vehicle for female empowerment, a daily reminder to women of their own confidence and grace.

To bring that vision to life, Simone married her distinctly French aesthetic — elegantly sensual without ever tipping into excess — with technical innovation focused on perfect fit and genuine support.

In the 1950s, the young brand rose to fame with its bullet bras, which became one of the defining lingerie silhouettes of the mid-twentieth century, largely thanks to Simone Perele’s influence. In the early 1960s, the then-small company became the first to produce bras crafted from stretch lace — a quiet revolution that changed how lingerie felt to wear.

The 1970s brought the Petale line, an early answer to the growing desire for natural, barely-there styles. The 1980s introduced the brand’s now-iconic demi-cup bras — still a signature of the collection today — designed to celebrate the body’s natural curves with effortless sensuality.

The innovations continued into the new millennium. In the early 2000s, Simone Perele launched the Andora line, engineered using the proprietary 3D Spicer material. The result was nothing short of a phenomenon: to this day, one Andora bra is sold somewhere in the world every single minute. In 2017, the brand was honored with the prestigious Designer of the Year award at the Salon International de la Lingerie in Paris.

Simone Perele Today

In the 21st century, the brand’s designers remain faithful to Simone’s original philosophy: create lingerie that honors and enhances the natural female silhouette — with no padding, no pinching, and no compromise. The approach resonates deeply with women across the globe, who embrace the brand’s pieces despite their premium price point, because the fit and finish consistently deliver.

Simone Perele is available in boutiques and multi-brand retailers across major European cities — Paris, London, Dublin, Berlin, and beyond — as well as through a robust international online presence that brings the collections to customers worldwide.

Aesthetically, the brand’s signature is its love of nature. Floral and botanical motifs are woven throughout the designs, lending each piece a quality of organic elegance. Much of the detailing is finished by hand — a nod to the atelier roots that started it all.
