Not long ago, the world-renowned Bordelle unveiled its Japonisme collection—and after that headline-making success, the label chose to push the idea even further. This Spring/Summer 2017 release, JAPONISME: CHAPTER 2, comes from a deeper exploration of Japanese history and culture. It blends samurai-inspired elements with refined lace and a sports-luxe edge, creating a mood that’s unmistakably sensual. The collection also nods to Tomoe Gozen, Japan’s most famous 12th-century female samurai.
Drawing on the modern discipline of martial arts, the Kendo line stands out for its sleek, athletic silhouette and striking, interlaced detailing. Key pieces include the Kendo bra with adjustable cups and a strappy crop top that captures the collection’s sport-meets-fetish tension.
By contrast, Nami feels luxurious, intimate, and exquisitely delicate, defined by exceptional lace guipure. Inspired by Hokusai’s famous 18th-century print The Great Wave off Kanagawa, the lace echoes ocean waves in a calm, sophisticated palette—classic black, soft caramel, and creamy neutrals.
Overall, the collection reads as unmistakably Bordelle—yet Nami breaks from the brand’s usual sharp intensity with an ultra-soft feel and powdery, romantic notes.
